Kirk

I met Kirk digging along the Susquehanna River in '99 or so. I remember he struck Paleo on that one. We wound up working the same projects together for many months-- in downtown Philadelphia, in Delaware, and finally in northern Japan in the summer of 2000. He was a great guy to be in a new environment with, also for figuring out what to do in an especially dull Econo Lodge after work. A few weekends we tried to shoot a film on DV tape, with Kirk improvising the titular role on the streets of Dover. The project went unfinished, but that had never been the point.

However far from his native stomping grounds, he stood out as a giant raconteur without a mean bone in him, an embracer of life and ideas. He'll be missed.
